On mine I actually had to adjust the CD pot, turning it clockwise almost a quarter turn, in order to get the unit to read PS2 discs (I was using Kingdom Hearts, which is a DVD, not a CD, but I guess DVD-ROM uses both CD and DVD tracks). You can then carefully flip the transport over and you'll see the two pots. Then remove the four grommet screws at the corners of transport. Leave the larger one on the side in place. ![]() To get to them, carefully pull out the flexible cable at the front, and the smaller one on the side - you will probably want to use needle nose pliers for this. They are inconveniently located on the bottom of the laser pickup assembly. Long story short, there are laser power adjustment pots in the slim as well. The laser was clean, and cleaning it more didn't help. ![]() I'm a bit surprised at how much bad information is out there.Īnyway, my symptoms were that the unit could read DVDs but could not read PS2 game discs.
